More about Stephanie

Stephanie Pitts is an editor at G.P. Putnam’s Sons, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers Group. Prior to joining the team at Putnam, Stephanie worked at Schwartz & Wade Books, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books. She once pulled a darling picture book manuscript, Sophie’s Squash by Pat Zietlow Miller, out of the slush pile. It published to four starred reviews and was named an Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Honor Book. Some recent projects include the middle grade novel Not as We Know It by Tom Avery and the picture book Jackrabbit McCabe and the Electric Telegraph by Lucy Margaret Rozier and Leo Espinosa.

Stephanie's wishlist:

Stephanie is always on the lookout for unique and irresistible picture books, particularly young character-based stories, smart humor, amazing-but-true stories, and books that are great for the classroom but not overly didactic or moralistic. She is also interested in character-driven/voice-driven chapter books, middle grade, and YA, and page-turning narrative non-fiction for young readers.

For this critique, Stephanie is taking Picture Books Only. Your critique may include full picture books for fiction, full picture books plus back matter for nonfiction. She is not critiquing older genre categories.
