A bit more about Allison

Allison recently joined the Bloomsbury team after spending several years at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. She edits a wide range of formats and genres and works with authors including E. D. Baker, Rhonda Gowler Greene, Jennifer Castle, Paul Tobin, and Jennifer Brown. Some of her other recent titles include President of the Whole Sixth Grade by Sherri Winston, a Kids’ Indie Next pick; Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham and City Shapes by Diana Murray and Bryan Collier, both which garnered multiple starred reviews; and The SheepOver by John and Jennifer Churchman, a New York Times bestseller; as well as the upcoming Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes and Dad By My Side by debut artist Soosh. Allison is seeking picture books with original hooks, quirky appeal, and promotion potential; memorable illustration styles, especially from artists who shine in another field and want to bring that magic to picture books; high-concept chapter books; middle grade novels that approach familiar themes from fresh and unexpected perspectives; and YA with discussion potential. She loves inventive storytelling formats, memorable settings and supporting casts, characters who wrestle with moral decisions, and themes pulled from the headlines. Her sweet spots are contemporary realistic fiction and magical realism, but she enjoys all stories that delve into real feelings, choices, lifestyles, and issues in creative and accessible ways. You can find her on Twitter @allisonm610.
