Picture Book Line Editing with Emily Feinberg
this webinar, Emily will go through some examples of recent picture books
at different stages. From submission, to first round edits, to
illustration notes, to publication to show various ways we bring picture
books to life. This is your chance to hear exactly what editors think during the editorial process on a line by line level.
A bit more about Emily
After earning her masters degrees in Children’s and English Literature from Simmons College in Boston, Emily joined the editorial team at Roaring Brook where she has had the opportunity to work with artists and authors such as Laura Vaccaro Seeger, Jason Chin, Bagram Ibatoulline, Nick Bruel and Yuyi Morales, among others. Emily works mostly with picture book, realistic middle grade, and nonfiction titles. Coming up, she has Elisha Cooper’s Big Cat, Little Cat, a tender and beautifully illustrated picture book about life, loss, and cats, as well as Maria Gianferrari’s nonfiction picture book Coyote Moon (illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline) and Marina Cohen’s spookly middle grade novel, The Inn Between. While she is always looking for solid, voice-driven picture books and middle grade, she also particularly loves nonfiction for young readers of all ages. Emily is not an editor of fantasy. In her free time, Emily enjoys playing with dogs in fields and learning as much as she can about outer space and space travel.
